A little kindness goes a long way

Sometimes i wonder what has the world become? Why children don't care about their parents nowadays? And especially when their parents become old and sick, they will just put them in nursing home or leave them alone to take care of themselves. The parents never give up on them no matter how tough their life was. They tried to give their child the best that they could and yet, this is how they are being treated when they grow old. I really feel so sorry for this patient today...

She came to see doctor all by herself like most of the other patients. What makes me feel sorry for her is that she cant see properly and yet she travelled all the way by herself. It brought to my attention when my colleague asked if i could help to send her to the consultation room to wait for her turn to see the doctor after her blood test. Of cse i was most willing to help. So i chat with her along the way and asked why she was alone to see the doctor. She told me that all her children busy at work and her husband don't even care about her. Sigh...

After seeing the doctor, i went down with her to make payment and then she asked me whether i could send her to the bus-stop? How could i reject her? Even if she didnt make that request to me, i will also offer to send her there. I waited for the bus together with her. Along the way, she kept thanking me. I told her it's the least that i could do for her. To me, it may be a small act but this little action certainly mean a lot to her.

Indeed, a little kindness goes a long way. =)
